Who are we?
We are the 3A of the Liceo Scientifico in Alghero. We are taking part to the project ASOC (at school of Opencoesion). This is an action which encourages the concepts of active and informed citizenship throughout activities of research and civic observation of the projects which are sponsored by policies of coesion. We have chosen a project which we think is appropriate to protect our city. Our job consists in following the founds of that project, studying the work already done and supervising its progress; in this way we could engage the whole population. With this project we have a possibility for becoming real European citizens.
FIRST LESSON
Our choice...
We decided to partecipate because we saw the projects done last year and we found them very interesting. First step has been the examination of the different public projects and some of these have caught our attention...
-ROM 01:it consists in the support for people who are disadvantaged and in finding them an occupation;
-Agrifood: it consists in new tecnologies for the agriculture and the development of local products;
But our attention went, in particular, to the planning and the renovation of ex-prison buildings in Porto Conte, which are intended for tourists's activities and for the enviromental retraining. The project deals with the recovering of the ex-prison building at Porticciolo and the trasformation in a hostel, with the achievement of outdoor infrastructures. It could be positive for tourism, for the school and citizens who attend the park. We chose democratically the project to follow with the app Doodle.
Baia delle ninfee...
For the choice of the name we thought that the old latin name of the park area could be the best for our project: Baia delle Ninfee (Ninpharum Portus). We chose it also because ours is an ecological project so what is better than a name which is linked to the nature? In our class, we had different ideas because some of us preferred the Italian name while other the Latin one; at the end we thought that the Italian name was better because it gave a great sense of modern, but always connected to the enviroment. The brand and the name comes from the mix between nynph (old name) and the waterlily which is now one of the symbols of the park.
MEETING WITH DOTT. SINIS
This meeting has been very important because we have found a lot of useful information. We started with the story of the prison building and we continued talking about the payments done for the renovation of the real estates. The building was a part of a network of abandoned estates. The one we are analysing, like the others, has been kept active for 21 years ( from 1941 to 1962). Many of those buildings have been renovated; for example" Casa Gioiosa" and the director's house, which is the guesthouse now. Our project has had two important problems: the first one is the nearness of the structure to a private area; this could cause a partial and not total renovation. The second problem concerns the companies which must have determined particular qualifications because the structure is a storic heritage. For the project it is needed one million of euros. The 50% of this money is provided by the UE, the 35% by the Fondo di Rotazione and the 15% is divided between the POR (Programma Operativo Regionale) and the FESR (Fondo Europeo di Sviluppo Regionale).
